Vacation Inspiration: Yosemite National Park
Final week, I spent the majority of my time hiking around Yosemite Valley and though it'south not the blazon of vacation that'south filled with ice cream cones and colorful walls (like this trip) it was completely amazing. I don't talk about it much here, but growing upwards nosotros would do outdoor family unit excursions pretty frequently. And it was really nice to exist back in Yosemite for a few days to remind myself that at that place is more than to this world than typing away on the reckoner.
This trip was different than any one Jeff and I had taken at that place before because we stayed at one of the lodges… Jeff had a conference to nourish (yes, a tech related briefing inside a national park), so I tagged along. And I had plenty of time to wander around on my ain and accept pictures, in between group activities.
But I'm getting ahead of myself because before nosotros fifty-fifty made information technology to the park, nosotros started taking pictures. The scenery was too good to pass up. Nosotros stopped in Copperopolis (yep, that'southward a real metropolis) to hang out in the wheat fields for a little bit. The sound of the current of air going through the grass was pretty awesome. Definitely got me excited about the trip to come.
A couple hours and some very steep terrain later, and we were in Yosemite. I roughshod asleep in the automobile (like I always do), simply Jeff stopped to take a motion-picture show of the sign equally we came in.
We pretty much hit the basis running from the get-go. But rather than requite yous the play by play, I idea it would be better to give a few recommendations for things to do and see instead.
So, if you're headed to Yosemite in the future, here are a scattering of things I'd recommend. At that place are plenty more things, merely it'southward too many to list, so here's a handful to become you started…
Glacier Point – You lot tin can run into the whole valley flooring from this spot and it'southward seriously astonishing!
Hiking forth the Merced River – In that location are enough of trails along the river and information technology's an easy walk, which you can cross over and head to El Capitan. You lot tin likewise practise some rafting on the river. I remember in the spring information technology's only open up for that kind of affair on the weekends though.
Upper and Lower Yosemite Falls – This concluding trip we just did the lower and information technology was super easy and fun. In that location's a trail off the browbeaten path, left of the bridge, where you can climb up closer to the falls. There was no i else there when we went, so information technology felt like a little surreptitious spot. So fun.
Vernal Falls – Nosotros didn't do this on this detail trip, but I've been twice on by trips and it is definitely worth it.
Ahwahnee Hotel – My dad recommended Jeff and I visit, just I didn't remember much of it. We ended up having some extra time, so nosotros checked information technology out…If you lot like colorful Persian and kilim rugs forth with giant fireplaces (like ten people could stand inside them fireplaces), definitely check this place out. It'due south pretty pricey to stay there, so I recommend only walking in for a visit on a rainy solar day when y'all don;t want to be outdoors.
Then that pretty much does information technology for this trip.
Big thanks to Poler for sending a ton of gear for our travels. I basically lived in the birch jacket (gotta accept layers if you lot're headed to Yosemite, the weather can be a little bit unpredictable) and got more than a few compliments on the camera libation bag.
